Abe ZakkakI am writing to thank you for all that you have done for me. In the past month you were able to restore my faith in doctors and give me back my life. I was touched by your humanitarian approach, genuine concern, expert diagnosis, and miraculous treatment. I am so impressed by your concern for me as an individual and your level of care which earned you a spot in my heart and in my found memories for ever. Only a hand full of individuals share that spot with you. I am a 48-year-old man who was involved in a civil war in Lebanon as teenage boy. I was a RED CROSS volunteer and have worked in atrocious conditions. I worked with great doctors who possessed extreme talents as well as with doctors who worked as butchers. On several occasions, I was helped by a few talented doctors who treated me for some serious injuries. These doctors performed miracles both in the field, as well as in pristine hospital settings. Out of the several dozens of doctors, only two of them I regarded as saviors and friends. After the war, I traveled twice around the world, and managed to live in 18 countries before migrating to the USA. After 25 years, I am able to add you to the few elite who I regard as saviors and friends. On March 13th, 2005 I injured my lower back, and I was plunged into the bureaucracy of corporate America and had to deal with corporate doctors. I am still baffled and disgusted by the fact that I was left to live in agony for 18 month, then I met you, and in about 45 minutes you were able to give me more than just relieve from pain. You gave me back my life as a parent and a husband. In 45 minutes you were able to restore me physically and mentally, and above all, my faith in humanity. The past 18 months I only existed but was not allowed to live. I was a prisoner trapped by red tape and was assigned a few symbols "$$" as my worth. I was regarded not as a living, feeling human being but as a number used to assess profits and loses for a few greedy, heartless individuals. We live in materialistic society with few caring and thoughtful individuals as you. Once again, I would like to thank you for releasing me from my despair. You showed me that good people still existed. You showed me that people are still capable of compassion if they choose to. You allowed me to view you first as a true Human Being and second as a Great Doctor. I am forever indebt to you, and I hope I can some how in some way help you. From all of us here at the Zakkak Family, we wish you happiness and good health. May you live long and prosper. Abe Zakkak |
